Earlier this year we were challenged to write a song about how Biology could help save the planet by our friend, Megson fan and biology expert Joyce. We were a little sceptical we had the skills for such an assignment at the start! However, lockdown gave us the space and time to try. After plenty of research we came up with this idea, which when we played it to Joyce she was that impressed by it she arranged for her university project to commission a music video for it.
So here is USING BIOLOGY – with images by the fantastic ScribbleStache Animation courtesy of the MeMBrane project http://www.membrane.org.uk & ERA CoBioTech funding.
Please feel free to share it! Especially with budding biologists and biology teachers 🙂

New Single – NEXT YEAR
It’s lovely to be able to release some new music at these times! We wrote this song at the end of last year and intended it as single to accompany the second part of our Spring Tour. Sadly that tour didn’t quite go to plan for obvious reasons – but we thought we’d release the it anyway 🙂
You can stream / download it from the usual places or get it form our BANDCAMP page.
Or you can listen to it for FREE here! If you do this and are able to make a small donation below that would be amazing…. Hope you enjoy it!

CONTRADICSHUN (Official Video)
We are very pleased to present the Official Video for “CONTRADICSHUN” – the title track from our new album. Made by the wonderful REDWOOD music photography & filmed at our house with kind permission of Lola and the dogs!
The words to this song are written by 19th Century Geordie songster Joe Wilson. The title “CONTRADICSHUN” jumped out at us when we were browsing through his 1870 book “Tyneside Songs, Ballads & Drolleries” and it sparked the idea to make an album full of songs about contradictions and conversations.

BURN AWAY VIDEO
Here is video to one of our new songs, BURN AWAY.
Its a song about Steel, Iron and the industrial language of the blast furnaces. The iron & steelmaking process is not the most obvious source of inspiration for a songwriter but being from Teesside it is somehow in our blood. The industrial language of steelmaking is in danger of being forgotten but it is full of colour and energy and easily sparks the imagination.
Original footage is taken from one of the documentaries that inspired the song, The British Steel Industry (Iron & Steelworks) – 1945 Educational Documentary. This footage has been made available courtesy the British Council Film Collection
‘The backbone of Britain’s industrial power lies in her great Steel Industry. In the blast furnaces, forges, rolling mills, and machine shops labour vast numbers of highly skilled craftsmen who, for generations, have devoted their lives to serving a great tradition known the world over – the tradition of British Steel.’
(Films of Britain – British Council Film Department Catalogue – 1946)
Burn Away by MEGSON. Taken from the 2016 album GOOD TIMES WILL COME AGAIN on EDJ RECORDS. 27/05/2016.
